Copper oxide respiratory masks may significantly reduce the risk of cross-contamination of SARS-CoV-2

A scientific study on the effectiveness of copper oxide masks against the SARS-CoV-2 virus can be found at https://researchsquare.com/article/rs-60610/v1. It has been shown that the mask neutralizes the virus within 1 minute of contact. The results showing the antiviral properties of the mask and copper oxide have been recognized across countries throughout the EU.

The use of protective respiratory face masks has been universally adopted as an important measure in the fight against COVID-19. Masks become contaminated by both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2, and the virus can remain viable on the surface of masks for several days. Although regular respiratory face masks are intended for single use, they are often reused and not discarded properly by the general public. Touching the mask during use, reusing it, and improper disposal occur frequently, which can lead to an increased risk of infection and further transmission.
